Ojai-born Business Bought for $1.5 Billion

Former Ojai resident and billionaire Lynda WeinmanBusiness-social networking site LinkedIn announced today that they had purchased on-line training company, Lynda.com,  in a cash-and-stock deal valued at about $1.5 billion.

Lynda.com, founded by Lynda Weinman in 1995, was once housed upstairs in a set of office suites on Matilija Street. It then moved to Ventura, before building a new headquarters in Carpinteria.

Lynda.com offers courses in a number of languages aimed at improving business, technology and creative skills. Subscription fees for its courses range between $250 and $375 per year, according to its website.

“With the integration of lynda.com and LinkedIn, users will know what skills are needed for the available jobs in their desired city,” Ryan Roslansky, LinkedIn’s head of content, wrote in a blog.
