Juniors Registration

Junior Events are designated as LEVEL 5 for USTA junior open ranking purposes.

Junior entrants must register online using our tournament’s site at Serve Tennis.

If you have any questions regarding the process please contact Tournament Director, Craig Fugle, at [email protected].

All entrants must sign a Waiver of Responsibility form (click on this link for the form) and return to the Tournament Director via email at [email protected].  The waiver form will also be sent to you by the tournament director.

Note regarding Boys CIF: Players must enter through their school coaches. No online registration is available. Entries must be submitted to the CIF – Southern Section Office by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2023.

Event Fees: Singles $70 and Doubles $80 per team

Note:   Junior Girls are allowed to enter both a Singles event (any age division) and also the Girls 18 Doubles. A player entered in a junior event may not enter a Men’s or Women’s Open event. A doubles team entry will be considered as complete only when both players have entered and the full entry fee has been paid.

Registration for the non-CIF junior events opens February 28, 2023 and closes at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, April 16, 2023. Once entries are closed in the various events, and rankings and latest tournament results are available, the tournament committee makes every effort to establish an equitable competitors list and an alternate list. In this regard, we anticipate that a list of competitors and alternates will be posted on the Serve Tennis tournament home page by Friday, April 21, 2023. However, please note that the draws for the junior events are limited, so that not all players listed in the junior applicants list may be accepted by the tournament committee into the event (see specific event entry limits posted on the Serve Tennis tournament home page). Players on the applicant list who are not ultimately accepted into the event will not be charged a fee.

Please do not telephone for match locations and times. The web site is the best way for us to communicate efficiently with you. Please read all the player information pertaining to you and your event and call or email the Tournament Director only if you have a problem or an unanswered question. To contact the Tournament Director, Craig Fugle, please send an email to [email protected].

The Ojai tournament web site includes links to maps of our more than 40 sites. First check the draws for the three digit (or less) court code, then go to Court Locations (located under the Tournament Information tab on the top menu) to find the map you want. You can manipulate the map and even get driving directions.

Finally, the draws are also posted on the large draw boards at Libbey Park. Those are the official times, but the most updated version is on the web site as well. If we anticipate changes to the scheduling because of the weather or other factors, we will post that information on the large draw boards and on this web site. Note that all junior players should check in directly at the site where their matches are scheduled.

If a player in the junior events wishes to withdraw, that information must be e-mailed to the Tournament Director on or before seven days prior to the start of the tournament to receive a refund of the entrance fee. To contact the Tournament Director, Craig Fugle, please send an email to [email protected]. This fax or e-mail must contain:

the player’s name as listed on his/her entry form,
the player’s birth date
the event in which the player is participating, and
the reason for the withdrawal.
In doubles, if there is a substitute player, please also list:

the withdrawing player,
the partner who will remain in the draw, and
the full particulars (as listed on the entry form) of the substitute player.

The substitute player must also mail or bring to registration a completed and signed entry form and Waiver of Responsibility.

Boys CIF on-site registration will be at the North entrance to Libbey Park on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 from 6:00-7:30 pm or on Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 6:30-8:00 am. School Coach only must be present.

Play starts on Thursday and ends on Saturday for all CIF events.  All other junior events start on Friday, and end on Sunday, April 30, assuming no weather delays. With the exception of the Boys CIF events, players who enter junior events do so as unattached individuals. Thus, in accordance with CIF regulations, these entrants may not represent their school, nor wear a school uniform, nor may their entry fee be paid by their school.

Coaching is not permitted in junior events except in the Boys CIF events, and except between the second and third sets.

Family, non-CIF coaches and friends of players will be required to purchase spectator tickets to gain entrance to Libbey Park, the Ojai Valley Athletic Club, and the Ojai Valley Inn courts during the hours of play. All players and CIF coaches will be required to present identification to gain entrance at these sites. No tickets or IDs are required at other sites where many junior matches are scheduled.

The Ojai Tennis Tournament t-shirts will be available to all Junior and CIF players for *FREE*.   Junior and CIF players can pick up a t-shirt from the Merchandise Tent at Libbey Park from 8:00am – 6:00pm on Thursday, April 27 and Friday, April 28.

For further information or questions, contact the Tournament Director, Craig Fugle, at [email protected].

Any unruly parents or spectators will be excluded from attending the tournament.
