SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference announced an agreement with the Ojai Valley Tennis Club to host the 2027 West Coast Conference Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championship at Libbey Park in Ojai, Calif. The 2027 West Coast Conference Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championship will take place from April 22-24. The Conference returns to Ojai after hosting the event there in 2022.
“Providing our student-athletes with a first-class championship experience is always a priority, and returning our tennis championships to Ojai delivers on that commitment,” said West Coast Conference Commissioner Stu Jackson. “Ojai has a rich tennis tradition and a history of hosting outstanding professional and collegiate competition. We are excited to partner with the Ojai Valley Tennis Club to provide our teams and supporters with a tremendous championship atmosphere as we compete for WCC titles at one of the premier tennis destinations in our footprint.”
Each six-team tournament will be contested over three days, beginning on Thursday, April 22 and running through championship day on Saturday, April 24. The top two seeds receive first-round byes with first-day action featuring the No. 3 seed vs. the No. 6 seed and the No. 4 seed vs. the No. 5 seed. The semifinals take place on the second day on Friday, April 23, before both championships matches on April 24.
Libbey Park is home to eight outdoor hard surface tennis courts in two areas, Lower and Upper Libbey, containing four courts in each area. The courts serve over 450 participants per year in tennis classes, 100 participants per year in the World Team Tennis Program, over 200 private lessons per year and 50 National Junior Tennis League sponsored by the USTA. The Libbey Park courts serve as host to the annual Ojai Tennis Tournament, a tradition dating back to 1896 and hosted by the Ojai Valley Tennis Club. In 2027, The Ojai will celebrate the playing of its 125th tournament.
“For more than 125 years, and since 1896, The Ojai has been a tournament steeped in tradition and pageantry,” said Mark Happach, President of the Ojai Valley Tennis Club. “The Ojai’s main event for years at storied Libbey Park has been powerhouse NCAA Division I men’s and women’s programs fighting it out for a conference championship. In 2027, we welcome the West Coast Conference with open arms and can’t wait to begin another long tradition at The Ojai with the WCC.”
In 2026, both No. 1 seeds won the conference tournament as San Diego edged Pepperdine, 4-3, in the men’s tournament, before Pepperdine topped San Diego, 4-1, in the women’s tournament.
